September 20 – 26, Bengalaru (Jeremy Graham, MD)

Despite the best efforts of Etihad Airways, Google Maps and New Delhi Customs, I was delighted to have the opportunity to attend the Bangalore Microscopy Course 2015. The course brings together 24 students from prestigious research institutes throughout the world for a week of lectures and hands-on microscopy workshops. It was also a valuable opportunity to meet up with representatives from regional and international imaging companies, in particular DSS (our approved Indian resellers), and the local Olympus and Photometrics staff. Cairn presented some new and affordable approaches to high speed multi wavelength imaging using our LED light sources, spinning filter wheel and image splitter – more to follow on this in coming months. I was wonderfully hosted by the NCBS and by the DSS team, who even staged a superb (albeit surprising) Indian hard rock gig at the institute.

I would like to thank the BMC organising team and in particular Manoj Matthews from NCBS. Also thanks to Ganesh, Praveen and colleagues.
